What does green mean?

As environmental awareness increases, many people are trying to understand what does green mean.  It may mean something a little bit different to each person.  One way to tell if something is green is to look for a certification.  Then you have to dig a little to understand what that certification really means.

In Wisconsin there are a few different designations for green building:
The U.S. Green Building Council has LEED
Green Built Home is a WI program
The National Association of Home Builders has NAHBGreen
and there is an Energy Star Home

The National Association of REALTORS^® has created a green designation and benefits program tailored for real estate agents.  NAR’s Green Designation
and there are Certified EcoBrokers^® for real estate professionals.
